| Million
Dollar Band From Indian Land
The Harlandale
High School Marching Band is the largest and most publicly visible
performing group in the Harlandale Band Program. The band performs
at all varsity football games, community parades and various marching
band competitions. The Marching Band meets as early as July to
begin preperation for the coming year and during the school year
will generally meet after school for a total of eight hours of
rehearsal per week. The Million Dollar Band has received consistent
Superior Ratings at the UIL Region XI Marching Contest for the
past 12 years, and has made 7 appearances at the UIL Area G Marching
Contest placing 11th in October 2009 - just missing a spot at
the Area Finals competition by 1 point! YAY BAND!!! |

Abinition Colorguard
The Abinition
Colorguard provides visual enhancement for the Marching band show
and participates in Winter Guard competitions in the Spring. Members
of the colorguard are considered members of the Band and thus
bound by all rules pertaining to the Harlandale Band Program.
In April 2010 - for the first time since 1985 - Abinition
competed in the Texas Educational
Colorguard Association (TECA) Winterguard Competition. Abinition
received 2nd place in their division at the TECA State Championships!

Symphonic
Band
The Symphonic
Band is the competing Varsity Concert Ensemble. This select group
of students is an elite performing group. Students in the Symphonic
Band must exhibit a high level of technical and musical proficiency
on their respective instruments. In combination with the success
of the Million Dollar Band, the Symphonic Band has earned almost
consecutive UIL Sweepstakes Awards since 1998. |

Concert Band
The Concert
Band is the competing Non-Varsity Concert Ensemble. Students in
the Concert Band must exhibit a moderate level of technical and
musical proficiency on their respective instruments. The concert
band is still young in it's journey through the UIL Concert &
Sight Reading process. The ensemble has received 2 UIL Sweepstakes
Awards since 2006. |
Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble
is a performing and competing group that focuses on the performance
of Jazz Literature, and Jazz Improvisation. This ensemble also
serves as the core group for the annual school musical and Senior
Honors Night. And much like the Marching band, The Jazz Ensemble
will perform in community events and various competitions.
The Jazz Ensemble has been swingin'
hard since the Fall of 2008.
